Buying A TempurPedic Pillow

If you’re on the hunt for a TempurPedic pillow, you’re going to have plenty of options, both in terms of the type of pillow and from where you purchase. For example, on TempurPedic’s website they sell about a dozen different pillows, ranging in price, firmness, and fill.

If you end up shopping on Amazon for a TempurPedic pillow, they also offer one for pretty much every situation. In fact, they largely carry the same inventory, although, from what we’ve seen Amazon has a lot of their older pillows in addition to the new ones. And, Amazon seems to have the best prices.

As of late 2019, here’s a quick look at the main pillows offered by TempurPedic.

  • TEMPUR-Cloud Pillow — This is the companies most popular pillow. It has a medium feel and is filled with a soft slab of memory foam.
  • TEMPUR Breeze Cooling Pillow — Made specifically for hot sleepers. They offer several cooling options that really are cold to the touch.
  • TEMPUR-Neck Pillow — This is basically the “original” TempurPedic pillow. It has a curved design meant to cradle the head and neck.
  • TEMPUR-Symphony PillowDouble sided pillow that’s able to work for strict stomach sleepers as well as back and side sleepers.
  • TEMPUR-Cloud Pro Pillow — Un upgraded version of the standard Cloud Pillow. Available in three heights (aka lofts).
  • TEMPUR-Down Precise Support — One of very few down pillows that they sell. Meant to give you that traditional feather pillow feel.

TempurPedic TEMPUR Cloud Pillow Review

This is a softer pillow and it is using one continuous slab of memory foam. And keep in mind that memory foam feels a little firm at first, but then sinks in to allow for a good amount of pressure relief.

This particular memory foam though, is a little softer in terms of its ILD rating so it will feel pretty soft when you’re laying on it. You can see it here on Amazon and on TempurPedic’s website.

Also, memory foam tends to be a bit firmer in the winter time when it’s cooler out and softer when it’s in a warmer environment. You won’t notice a drastic change with the pillow, but you may experience a slightly softer or firmer pillow depending on the temperature.

As for the cover, it’s made of 100% polyester and is machine-washable, which is nice. Just make sure to follow the care instructions for cleaning.

Related Content

Uncompressed the pillow has about a 5” loft, which is about standard for most pillows we see out there. It’s not on the thick or thin end, but rather right in the middle.

When you do compress the pillow, however, it has about a 2-3” loft. Now, this is specific to your size, frame, and sleeping position, but i will be about 2-3” for most people.

Looking At Different Sleeping Styles

We see the pillow being best for petite and medium-size individuals that sleep on their stomach and side. You need to make sure that you’re keeping proper alignment and that your neck isn’t all out of whack, but for most people between 100 lbs and 200 lbs it will best for back/side sleepers.

The TEMPUR-Cloud Pillow should work just fine for back sleepers

If you have a medium to large frame, you will probably be just fine as a stomach sleeper with this pillow. Larger individuals will certainly only be using this as a stomach sleeper’s pillow, while medium-size folks can feel free to rotate positions, as it’s fairly accommodating.

Final Comments On The TEMPUR-Cloud Pillow

While it’s not our favorite pillow in the world, there is a lot to like about it. It’s comfortable and accommodating, plus has a machine-washable cover. Whether it’s worth $79 per pillow, that’s up to you. But, if you want a memory foam pillow that’s durable and medium in terms of size/loft, it’s a pretty good option.

TempurPedic Breeze Cooling Pillow Review

There are a few options to purchase this pillow. You can buy on TempurPedic’s website, although they don’t seem to discount the pillow much. Or you can purchase via Amazon, which from what we’ve seen is the cheaper alternative.

Either way, you will get free shipping with the pillow as well as a 5-year warranty on the pillow and a 2-year warranty on the cover.

There is no trial period or return policy if you order on TempurPedic’s website, however, with Amazon you have their standard return/exchange policies. Basically, you have 30 days to try out the pillow, and if decide don’t want it anymore you just have to cover return shipping charges.

This is not a cheap pillow and it will not be an impulse purchase for you. It’s made for a specific type of sleeper and most other people will just say “pass”.

Yes, that’s right. This pillow starts at $169, which makes it the most expensive pillow that we’ve reviewed—even pricier than the Helix Pillow and Layla Pillow.

There is a glimmer of good news though. Amazon tends to mess around with pricing for this pillow. We’ve seen it as low as around $130 for the queen size, which, yes, is still expensive, but much more palatable than $169.

Construction and Feel

This is a dual-sided memory foam pillow. TempurPedic calls the foam a “Lightweight TEMPUR material,” but that’s just marketing speak for memory foam. As for the feel of the pillow, it’s about a medium-soft, although memory foam does soften over time.

The way the pillow is constructed is pretty straightforward. You have a memory foam slab with a cooling strip on either side and a cotton cover. The cooling material is what TempurPedic calls “TEMPUR-Breeze Gel” and it’s actually cool to the touch, much like the gel strip that you see on the Leesa Hybrid Pillow.

Since the gel strip is on both sides of the pillow and it’s an active-cooling material, this pillow actually sleeps very cool at night. In fact, if you don’t sleep really hot at night, this pillow almost certainly is not for you. Just like the beds on our Best Cooling Mattresses list aren’t for cold sleepers, the TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze Dual Cooling Pillow is only recommended for people that sleep abnormally hot.

As for the cover, as previously mentioned, it’s made entirely of cotton. It also happens to be breathable, soft, and machine washable. It’s actually a really nice cover.

Who is This Pillow Best For?

Given that the TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze Pillow has an uncompressed loft of 6.4″ and a compressed loft of about 3-4″, we think this pillow is best for medium and larger individuals. It wouldn’t be our favorite pillow for petite sleepers as it’s not adjustable (i.e. you cannot add or take away from the loft) and will simply be too tall for many people with a shorter, smaller frame.

Of course, this is a general statement, but we think petite sleepers are better off looking for a thinner pillow.

Also given the loft of the pillow, it’s going to be preferable for back and side sleepers—stomach sleepers mostly likely will not enjoy it unless they hug the edges of the pillow.

When sleeping on your back, you want to make sure that your head is facing more or less straight up. This will help to maintain the natural “C” curvature in your neck. If you feel the pillow pushing your head forwards, the pillow likely has too much loft for you.

Ideal for side and back sleepers

For side sleepers, you’re looking to follow a straight line from your nose down your spine. If you’re head is cocked up too much this can cause a good amount of pain and discomfort to your neck, especially if you’re sleeping like this for 6-8 hours.

Verdict On TempurPedic’s Cooling Pillow

This pillow is definitely not for everyone. On price alone, TempurPedic will be turning away a lot of prospective customers. That said, if you’re looking for an ice cold memory foam pillow and price isn’t an issue for you, the TEMPUR-Cloud Breeze should be on your short list of pillows to try out.
