Loom & Leaf is a luxury memory foam mattress that truly does look a cut above most online beds. It has a European pillow-top cover that’s made from organic cotton. It has golden stitching around the perimeter. And it’s 12” thick, which is about 2” thicker than your typical online mattress.
It’s available in two different comfort levels: Relaxed Firm and Firm. Relaxed Firm, we say, translates to a medium-firm in terms of firmness. It’s soft enough for side sleepers, but provides support for back and stomach sleepers, as well. It wouldn’t be our first pick for a side sleeper mattress, but it will soften with use.
If you are heavier, though, you might consider the Firm model for back and stomach sleeping, since the Relaxed Firm option does have plenty of pressure relief. It’s hard to say exactly where the cut-off point is, but if you’re around 250 lb or more and you sleep chiefly on your back and stomach, you should probably first try out the Firm version.
As for the overall feel of the mattress, the Relaxed Firm option does feel a lot like a memory foam bed (because it is). You will have a little trouble switching sleeping positions at night, although it’s not in quick sand territory. It’s very comfortable, but you have to love memory foam in order to be happy with this bed.
And because it’s an all-foam mattress, it’s very effective at reducing motion transfer, which is great if you or your partner are active in your sleep.
One thing that we don’t love, however, is the edge support, which is particularly important for couples that share a smaller mattress. If the bed compresses along the perimeter too much, it can give you a bit of an unnerving roll-off sensation. Loom & Leaf is just average when it comes to edge support.
We do see this a lot with memory foam beds, however. The foam remembers your shape and it becomes a little more difficult to climb your way back into the center of the mattress.
The bottom line with Loom & Leaf is that if you want a luxury memory foam mattress, it should at least be considered. It’s one of the only memory foam beds that does actually do a decent job with temperature regulation. We like that it comes in different firmness levels. And it looks like a $10,000 bed.

The Saatva Mattress is the company’s flagship bed. Like Zenhaven and Loom & Leaf, it has a premium, luxury look to it that a lot of other beds just don’t have. It looks like something out of a magazine or something that belongs in the White House, only it’s priced below most luxury beds.
Saatva is the only bed of the three that uses coils. In fact, it starts with a traditional innerspring system and then adds even more coils in the form of pocketed springs (to reduce motion transfer). It offers great support and yet is still a comfortable mattress.
It comes with three different comfort levels: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. The Luxury Firm is their most popular and is touted as a bed that can accommodate all types of sleepers. We felt that it was actually quite firm, in that medium-firm to firm range to be exact. It’s best for stomach and back sleepers in particular, although combo sleepers will get by just fine. And the same thing goes for the Firm option.
The Plush Soft model is the most ideal of the three for side sleepers. It’s a really comfortable mattress that offer great support, but has a softer pillow top.
We also like that Saatva sleeps relatively cool at night, as a result of being on the firmer side of things. You do certainly sleep more on top of this bed versus down in the mattress, if that makes sense. Of course, this depends on the comfort level that you select, but for most people, you will experience a firmer, cooler mattress.
The other thing that we should discuss is the different thicknesses offered. At no extra cost, you can choose between a bed that’s 11.5” thick and 14.5” thick. The thicker the mattress, in general, the better it is for heavier individuals that require a lot of support. This is also an aesthetic feature and allows you to choose what fits your bed frame best.
Thicker mattresses are heavier and do require extra stretchy sheet sets, but you should be able to find those without issue. We aren’t aware of another brand that allows you to select between two thicknesses. It’s a neat thing that Saatva does.
The bottom line with Saatva is that it’s an affordably-priced, luxury innerspring mattress. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re in luck.

Zenhaven is one of very few entirely latex foam mattresses. It’s natural and organic, including a wool fire retardant layer. Because it uses so much latex, the bed ends up being bouncy and responsive, making switching positions at night effortless. It’s almost as if you’re sleeping on a spring mattress.
Latex foam also tends to sleep much cooler than other types of foam, including memory foam. Therefore, if you sleep especially hot at night, Zenhaven is certainly a viable option for you.
The other really interesting thing about Zenhaven is that it’s a flippable mattress with two different comfort levels. One side is Luxury Plush, which is about a medium or a medium-firm on our scale. Saatva says this will be ideal for 80% of sleepers. It will be able to accommodate side, back, stomach, and combo sleepers that rotate positions throughout the night.
Having said that, it is on the slightly firmer end of the spectrum, so depending on your weight, it could be preferable to back and stomach sleepers, which tend to like firmer mattresses.
One the other side of the mattress is the Gentle Firm comfort level, which is about 20% firmer than the Luxury Plush side. This is medium-firm to firm, again, depending on your weight. The heavier you are, the softer you’ll experience a mattress to be. The inverse is true for petite sleepers.
For the record, your weight also affects plenty of other things with a mattress. For example, the heavier you are, the thicker and more supportive you need a mattress to be. With Zenhaven, because it’s 10” thick, it will accommodate most sleepers, unless you’re especially heavy, at around 250 lb or more.
Your weight even affects how hot or cool the mattress is. If you nestle into the bed more, you’ll tend to heat up more, regardless of the type of mattress. The more that you sleep on top of the bed, the cooler it will feel, in general.
As for other notable items, the cover on Zenhaven is made from organic cotton and smells earthy, almost like an old book. It smells quite nice compared to the typical chemical smell of new mattresses.

The bottom line with Zenhaven is that it’s a little pricey, but has a lot to offer. If you want a latex mattress or even a flippable bed, it should be on your short list of mattresses to test. Unfortunately, they don’t hardly ever offer discounts, so the price is what it is. We can see a lot of people liking this bed, if you’re prepared for how responsive and bouncy it is.
All three mattresses come with free white glove delivery, which means that a local delivery company in your area will deliver the mattress and set it up in your home—you basically just sit there and watch. They will even remove your old mattress if you’d like. We, of course, only recommend this if you’re 100% confident that you’ll like your new Saatva mattress. White glove delivery is great in the sense that it requires almost no effort from you, but it does take a little longer and necessitates that you set up a delivery appointment.
Additionally, all three come with a 120-night trial period whereby you can test your new bed to see if it’s the one for you. If you love it, that’s great, keep it. If you decide that you don’t want it and would like to return it, Saatva will arrange for pickup. However, there is a $99 return fee to cover some of the transportation/shipping costs.
Saatva and Loom & Leaf come with a 15-year warranty, which is about 5 years longer than the standard warranty offered by an online mattress brand. Zenhaven is backed by a 20-year warranty, which, if you’re doing the math, is double the standard warranty length for online beds.
All three beds also have non-removable covers, which means that you need to spot clean them, as they cannot be removed. This is very common for online beds. We’d love it if they were machine-washable, but it’s not that big of a deal. If you’re truly concerned with stains and keeping the mattress clean, you should look into a mattress protector on Amazon or from some other retailer.
In this post, we are going to do mini reviews to discuss the high and low points for each bed. Because they are so different, the decision making process between the three really does boil down to a few key elements such as material preferences, softness/firmness, price, etc..
