Here’s a brief outline of the main points we’ll be discussing in this post:
Keep reading for more details on each of those highlights.
Both of the brands we’re covering in this post make nice, quality memory foam mattresses. We’re not at all surprised that shoppers are considering both Loom & Leaf and Amerisleep.
Loom & Leaf is made by Saatva. If you’re not familiar with Saatva as a company, they’ve positioned themselves in the more luxury tier of the online mattress space. In addition to the Loom & Leaf mattress, Saatva makes the latex Zenhaven mattress and their namesake Saatva mattress.
Amerisleep is also sitting pretty toward the upper tier of the bed-in-a-box industry. Their mattresses are all American made (surprise, surprise) and, as mentioned, they make five models of the AS bed.

Starting from the bottom of the mattress, Loom & Leaf contains a 5.5” layer of dense poly foam to provide a solid foundation for the remaining layers in the mattress. The next slab of material is a 2” transition loft bad, essentially meaning a layer of foam to neutralize the feeling of the dense support layer on the bottom.
Above the loft pad is 2.5” of five pound visco-elastic memory foam. This type of memory foam is more responsive than traditional memory foam, meaning it bounces back quickly when you press your hand down, or lay on it. It’s the layer in Loom & Leaf that gives you support and that alleviating deep pressure relief memory foam is known for.
The last layer is made of 2” thick four pound gel-swirl memory foam. It’s another fancy way to describe a different kind of memory foam, and this particular kind is responsible for making your bed feel soft and comfy. In the center third section of this layer where most of your body heat is retained, you can also find a laminated sheet of cooling gel, which you can read more about on L&L’s website.
What’s the cooling gel made of? It’s the type of substance you’d see in hospital burn units using to treat fire victims. So we think this mattress sleeps cooler than other memory foam mattresses on the market. That said, it’s not cold to the touch, nor is it too cold for those that sleep at a neutral temperature.
The icing on the cake is a cover is made from organic cotton, which we’re big fans of here at The loansonline.store. It gives the bed a premium look, but as an added bonus, organic cotton is produced with natural fertilizers and seeds. We actually think it has a smell like you’re walking through a lush green forest. Loom & Leaf’s cover is also extra cozy because it has ⅝” of soft foam quilted into it for additional comfort.
When you lay down on Loom & Leaf, you slowly sink into the soft memory foam layers and they gently contour to the shape of your body. Since the memory foam is slightly on the firmer side, we think Loom & Leaf has more of a dense memory foam feel. So if you’re a fan of memory foam, we think you’ll really enjoy this mattress.
The feel of a mattress can often be subjective based on a person’s body weight, so keep in mind we usually rate mattresses based off the perspective of a medium-sized individual. With that being said, we rated their Relaxed Firm model a medium-firm and their Firm mattress a firm on our scale.
We recommend side sleepers go with the Relaxed Firm model because it’s softer, which means it will provide a little more pressure relief for your hips and shoulders when you’re on your side.
For back and stomach sleepers, we think the Firm model will be ideal for heavier individuals because it administers more support for your trunk, shoulders, and spine. If you’re a petite or medium-sized individual, we think the Relaxed Firm model will provide you with more than enough support.
As for combination sleepers, since memory foam isn’t immediately responsive, it’s a little harder to change positions during the night than it is on other foam mattresses. However, we also think that memory foam beds can sometimes prevent those who toss and turn to stay more settled in one spot, because you’re nestled in the material. So if you’re fond of the distinct memory foam feel, we think you’ll be fine. Even more, because Loom & Leaf has a denser overall feel, it’s easier to rotate positions on than, say, Zinus.
Amerisleep has five different models to choose from, and as the models get softer the prices get higher. So they have a few options that are more expensive than Loom & Leaf, and a few options that are more affordable. For a queen size mattress, AS1 retails around $1,000, AS2 goes for about $1,100, their flagship and most popular mattress AS3 is about $1,200, the AS4 is around $1,500, and finally the most expensive AS5 model is around $1,900.
Saatva’s Loom & Leaf mattress goes for about $1,500. Since we aren’t paid to only say positive things, we are going to be honest and say we think $1,600+ is pretty expensive for an all foam mattress. For that price, you can get a more supportive and durable luxury hybrid mattress (a mattress with foam and coils). On the other hand, we think Loom & Leaf is a great value for how nice the bed is.

Each of the five Amerisleep models have a similar construction and contain three key materials, but the thickness of the layers vary depending on which model you choose. The first is Bio-Core Foam which is eco-friendly and it sits at the foundation of each bed. AS1 is the firmest model, which means it’s extra supportive and has 8” of Bio-Core Foam. Models AS2-AS5 are all constructed with 7” thick Bio-Core Foam.
The second material in every Amerisleep mattress is Bio-Pur Memory Foam, which is a good deal more responsive than traditional memory foam. It’s also made with an open-cell structure which allows for better airflow, so it sleeps a little cooler than other types of memory foam.
Lastly, every Amerisleep mattress is wrapped with a Celliant cover, a kind of fabric that converts heat into infrared light. So we think it also sleeps on the cooler side of the spectrum like Loom & Leaf. It was proven by the FDA to promote better sleep and aid recovery, because it increases blood flow so you’ll wake up feeling fresh and revitalized. You can read more about Celliant on Amerisleep’s website.
Since there’s a memory foam layer at the top of every Amerisleep mattress, it’s no shock all five models have a memory foam feel. Similar to Loom & leaf, when you lay down on an Amerisleep mattress, the material starts to mold to the shape of your body and it feels like your mattress is giving you a gentle embrace.
Each Amerisleep model has a different firmness level. We rated the AS1 model a Firm, an AS2 model a medium-firm, the AS3 mattress a medium, the AS4 mattress a medium-soft, and finally the AS5 bed a soft.
Since the AS3 is a Medium, it’s the most accommodating mattress because it’s right in the sweet spot between supportive, and pressure relieving. We’ve also found that it’s easier to switch positions on Amerisleep than traditional memory foam mattresses. So if you’re a combo sleeper or sleep with a loved one with a different sleeper type than you, we think this will be a good choice for you—as would Loom & Leaf, too.
If you’re a side sleeper, we think you should probably consider the AS4 or AS5 because they’re on the softer side of the spectrum, and they’ll provide the pressure relief you need. For back and stomach sleepers, we think you should jump to the other side of the spectrum and take a look at AS1 or AS2 because they are firmer, but not too stiff where it feels like you’re sleeping on a board.
AS2 is the top-selling model for back and stomach sleepers, and we suggest petite to medium-sized individuals who favor these sleeping positions go for this mattress. For those of you who are more heavy set and weigh over 250 lbs, we suggest the AS1 because it’ll feel like a truly firm and supportive mattress.
We already discussed Amerisleep’s Celliant cover a little, but we also want to note the cover is machine washable. It’s one thing we really like about Amerisleep, because many bed-in-a-box mattress companies don’t offer this feature—other than Yogabed, Puffy, and a few others. So you don’t have to sweat it if your significant other spills some orange juice from breakfast in bed, or if your furry friends take a trip through the mud in your backyard and directly run to your bed afterwards. Just throw it in the wash on a gentle setting with a mild detergent, and tumble-dry.
If you’ve reached this point in the post and have suddenly realized you don’t like the feel of memory foam, head over to our post on the Best Latex Foam Mattresses. Latex foam is still soft like memory foam, but it’s much more responsive.
Loom & Leaf and Amerisleep are both memory foam mattresses made completely out of foam, but depending on your preferences, one will probably be more fitting than the other. If you’re still trying to decide which mattress will suit you best, keep these key questions in mind.

Online shopping is just a part of life nowadays, so we’re all accustomed to the shipping fees, return windows, etc., etc. If you’ve been shopping around the internet for a new mattress, you may have noticed a pattern in these policies. Most companies will offer free shipping, a 100-night trial period, free returns with full refunds, and a 10-year warranty.
That’s most companies, but not every single one. Saatva, for example, does things a bit differently. When you order a Loom & Leaf mattress, you’ll get free white glove delivery. So rather than being dropped off on your porch, compressed inside a box, your mattress will arrive via a regional delivery service and will be carried into your home and set up for you. They’ll also take away your old mattress if you’d like. Once your mattress arrives, you’ll have 120 nights to test it out and be sure you’re happy with it. If you are, you also get a 15-year warranty along with it. However, if it isn’t quite what you were hoping for and you want to return it, you will be responsible for a $99 return fee.
Amerisleep’s policies are closer to the standard, but they do offer a longer warranty than the usual 10 years. Instead, you’ll have 20 years of coverage for your Amerisleep mattress if you order from their website.
