Tuft & Needle vs Linenspa Comparison Synopsis

We realize not everyone enjoys reading about mattresses. It can be a snooze, we get it (pun intended). Therefore, to cut to the chase, here are the primary differences between these three beds.

  • Feel — All three beds have a slightly different feel. Tuft & Needle has a soft, neutral-foam feel, the Linenspa Latex Hybrid has a mixed, latex foam feel (as you would expect) and the Linenspa Memory Foam Hybrid has a (you guessed it) memory foam feel.
  • Construction — Both Linenspa beds incorporate coils, while the Tuft & Needle mattress is made entirely of foam. We’ll discuss how each bed is made in more detail below.
  • Sleeper Type — We think the Linenspa Memory Foam Hybrid is best for side sleepers, while Tuft & Needle and the Linenspa Latex Hybrid are preferable for back and stomach sleepers.
  • Price — Although all three mattresses are priced very affordably, the Linenspa beds are the most budget-friendly.

In our opinion, those are the primary points of differentiation between the three mattresses. However, it’s always a good idea to conduct additional research when talking about a big purchase like a new mattress. Keep reading to learn about each bed.

Linenspa Memory Foam Hybrid

BEST FOR:

  • Folks who love the feel of memory foam
  • Side and combo sleepers
  • All body types
  • Shoppers looking to spend less than $500
  • People looking for a softer bed with lots of pressure relief

First up, it’s important to note Linenspa offers an 8″ Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress, as well. This model has smaller coils and less memory foam, but it is cheaper. If you’re on a super tight budget, you may want to check it out on Amazon. In this post, though, we are going to focus on the 12″ model. Let’s get started.

Hybrid Construction Overview

Given the price point, the bed actually has a fairly high-quality construction. It starts with a layer of 8″ individually encased coils, which serve as the primary support structure for the mattress. On top of the coils is a 1″ layer of transition foam and finally the bed uses 3″ of memory foam its comfort layers.

Overall, we like that the bed incorporates coils as opposed to dense support foam, like Tuft & Needle. We’ve found coils tend to provide more support and last longer than support foams.

Constructed with pocketed coils and memory foam

As such, we feel comfortable recommending this mattress for folks of all shapes and sizes. In fact, when it comes to heavier individuals, we almost always point them towards hybrid and innerspring beds. The coils provide what we call bi-directional support, meaning they compress like support foams, but also provide a little resistance. This extra little bit of resistance is ideal to support the extra pressure big folks exert on mattresses.

Memory Foam Feel

As you might imagine given the comfort layers mentioned above, the bed has a strong memory foam feel to it. As you lay down on the mattress, you immediately sink down a little and the top layers start to conform to your body’s shape. Overall, it’s soft and comfortable experience.

Comfortable, memory foam feel

Bottom line, if you like the feel of memory foam, you’ll like this mattress. With that said, there’s no winner or loser when it comes to feel. It really varies on a person-by-person basis. Some folks absolutely love memory foam and some people aren’t so fond of it. If you fall into that second category, you’ll most likely want to go with the Linenspa Latex Hybrid or Tuft & Needle mattress for a different kind of feel.

Most Ideal Option For Side Sleepers

Out of the three beds in today’s post, we think the Linenspa Memory Foam Hybrid is the best option for strict side sleepers. The bed is fairly soft and provides a good amount of pressure relief.

Great option for primary side sleepers

Typically, side sleepers prefer more plush mattresses that are gentle around their pressure points and the Linenspa Memory Foam Hybrid definitely fits the bill. The memory foam top layers do a really good job of cradling the hips and shoulders of side sleepers.

When it comes to back and stomach sleepers, though, it depends on your weight. If you’re a lighter-weight sleeper, you’ll be just fine on this mattress. However, for heavier individuals who primarily sleep on their back or stomach, it’s not our favorite mattress. It’s just too soft and bigger folks will find that they sink a little too far down into the top layers.

Look at the compression

Generally, strict back and stomach sleepers prefer firmer mattresses that keep their hips in horizontal alignment with the rest of their body. If you consider yourself a bigger person, you should check out our list of the Best Beds For Heavy People.

Budget Friendly Price

Last up here, let’s cover price. The Linenspa 12″ Memory Foam Hybrid is priced very affordably. As of the date of this post, you can snag a queen size for about $400 on Amazon.

For comparison purposes, that’s about $100 more than the Linenspa Latex Hybrid, but $200 less than the queen size Tuft & Needle mattress.

Linenspa Latex Hybrid

BEST FOR:

  • All types of sleepers
  • People of shapes and sizes
  • Budget shoppers
  • Individuals who want a bouncy, responsive bed

This is the only latex bed Linenspa offers, but their sister brand, Lucid, offers a couple different latex beds. If you’re interested, you can check out Lucid’s latex selection on Amazon. For the purposes of this comparison, though, we’ll be focusing on the Linenspa 10″ Latex Hybrid.

How This Bed Is Constructed

Like the Memory Foam Hybrid, the Linenspa Latex Hybrid is comprised of both coils and layers of foam. The bed starts with a 7″ layer of individually wrapped coils. This layer serves as the primary support framework for the bed. Next is a 2″ layer of mixed latex foam and finally rounding out the mattress is a 1″ layer of what the company calls its “Fast Response Foam.”

Rough breakdown of the materials inside the bed

Again, we like that the mattress uses coils for its foundation. To reiterate, coils are more supportive and durable than dense poly foams that all-foam beds like Tuft & Needle use for their foundations. In addition, latex foam is known as being very resilient and durable. As such, we think this mattress will work for all body types. The bed provides a good amount of support, even for heavier individuals.

Mixed, Latex Foam Feel

For those of you who are unfamiliar with latex foam, it has a much lighter and bouncier feel to it compared to memory foam. As you lay down on the bed, you don’t really sink in at all and the top layers don’t contour to your body’s shape.

A lot of consumers really enjoy the mixed foam feel

Don’t get us wrong, the bed still has a somewhat soft foam feel, we just wouldn’t categorize it as a plush bed. With that said, we’ve actually found that a lot of people out there prefer a slightly firmer feeling mattress.

The other nice thing about this bed (and latex foam in general) is that it’s extremely responsive. The top layers snap back to position almost immediately after pressure is released off the bed.

This means you won’t get any of that stuck-in-the-mud sensation that memory foam is known for. As a result, combination sleepers will find it effortless to switch between sleeping positions.

Accommodates All Types Of Sleepers

Overall, we think this bed will accommodate all types of sleeping positions. The bed provides a good amount of support for back and stomach sleepers. As we mentioned above, you don’t really sink into the top layers all that much, which should help keep your hips in proper alignment with the rest of your body.

Viable option for back, stomach and side sleepers

Further, while we wouldn’t put this bed on our list for the Best Beds For Side Sleepers, we do think it’s a viable option for people who spend a lot of time on their side. The bed is still soft and gentle enough around your pressure points to deserve that designation.

Lastly, given the bed’s construction, firmness, and support level, we do think people of all sizes will be fine on this mattress.

Low Price Point

The Linenpa 10″ Latex Hybrid is the most affordable mattress on this list, which is actually kind of a surprise given latex is generally an expensive bedding material. To be fair, though, the bed really only has 2″ of mixed latex foam in it.

Still, last we checked, you can snag a queen size for about $300 on Amazon. Again, that’s about $100 less than the Linenspa Memory Foam Hybrid and $300 less than Tuft & Needle.

Tuft & Needle Mattress

BEST FOR:

  • Folks who prefer more of a neutral-foam feel
  • Back, stomach, and side sleepers
  • Petite and medium sized individuals
  • Indecisive shoppers (100-night trial period)

Like the other beds on this list, Tuft & Needle offers multiple models. In addition to the Original Tuft & Needle mattress (the focus of this post), the company also offers the Mint mattress, which is their more premium model. The Mint model is a little softer than the original model and is better for side sleepers, but it’s also quite a bit more expensive. Enough about the Mint, though, let’s discuss Tuft & Needle’s most popular mattress.

All-Foam Construction

The title of this section says it all. The Original Tuft & Needle mattress is comprised of just two foam layers. It uses a dense poly foam for its foundation and a layer of T&N Adaptive Foam for its comfort layer. This T&N Adaptive Foam is a proprietary foam that is neither memory foam nor latex foam. Rather, as you will find out in the next section, it sort of takes characteristics from both types of foam.

A peek inside the Tuft & Needle Mattress

Given the basic construction of the mattress, we wouldn’t recommend it for people who weigh more than 250 lb. We just don’t think the bed will provide enough support for big folks over the long haul.

Neutral-Foam Feel

As we alluded to above, the Tuft & Needle mattress doesn’t really have a signature feel. The top layer is soft like memory foam, but it’s also fairly responsive like latex foam. As you lay down on the bed, you sink in a little, but the top layer of T&N Adaptive Foam doesn’t really wrap your body at all. That’s why we say it has more of a soft, neutral-foam feel.

Most people will agree that T&N is comfy

To reiterate what we said in the first section of this post, there’s no right or wrong when it comes to feel. Everyone has different preferences. Overall, if you want a soft foam feel, but you don’t want the conforming sensation memory foam provides, Tuft & Needle is your ticket.

Good For All Types Of Sleepers

Like the Linenspa Latex Hybrid, we think the Tuft & Needle mattress is a good choice for all types of sleepers. Overall, the bed finds a nice balance between comfort and support. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether you consider yourself a primary back, stomach, or side sleeper. Plus, you don’t get any stuck-in-the-mud feeling either with this bed, which is a good thing for people who tend to rotate between all three sleeping positions.

However, we’d limit the statements above to include petite and average sized individuals. If you’re a heavy individual, you might want to check out our list of the Best Hybrid Mattresses if you’re looking for a bed with a neutral-foam feel.

Moderate Price Tag

Although Tuft & Needle is more expensive than both Linenspa beds, it’s still much more affordable than the average bed-in-a-box. A queen size T&N mattress will run you about $600, which, for comparison purposes, is about $200-$300 less than the likes of Casper and Leesa.

Longer Trial Period

This might be a small point for some people, but we’d just like to reiterate that Tuft & Needle comes with a 100-night risk-free home trial period. That means you’ll have about two months longer to test out the bed than you will with the Linenspa mattresses. Sometimes it can take up to 45 days to break in a new mattress, so the extra time that Tuft & Needle provides is nothing to ignore.

Made In The USA

Again, this might be important to some consumers. Tuft & Needle is owned by the mattress giant Serta Simmons and all their beds are manufactured right here in the good ol’ US of A. Linenspa mattresses, on the other hand, are manufactured in China.

Tuft & Needle Mattress vs Linenspa: Review Verdict

All in all, we think very highly of all three mattresses. No, they’re not the most premium or luxurious mattresses on the market, but given their price points, it’s hard to argue against them.

When trying to decide between the three, in our eyes, it really comes down to a few factors.

  • Budget — If you’re buying strictly on price, go with the one of the Linenspa mattresses.
  • Feel — This really comes down to personal preference. If you like the feel of memory foam, go with the Linenspa Memory Foam Hybrid. Likewise, if you want more of a neutral-foam feel, go with either the Linenspa Latex Hybrid mattress or Tuft & Needle bed.
  • Sleeper Type — If you’re a strict side sleeper, we think the Linenspa Memory Foam Hybrid provides the most pressure relief. If you’re a strict back or stomach sleeper, though, we think Tuft & Needle and the Linenspa Latex Hybrid are the more preferable options.
  • Your Weight — If you weigh over 250 lb, go with one of the Linenspa beds that contain coils. Specifically, the Latex Hybrid if you’re a back or stomach sleeper and the Memory Foam Hybrid if you’re a side sleeper.

We hope this comparison was helpful. Thanks for choosing The loansonline.store.

Buying These Mattresses

A lot of consumers are unaware just how easy and convenient it is purchase a bed online. Companies like Tuft & Needle and Linenspa make it very easy for shoppers (you don’t even need to leave your house). Let’s explore how each of these companies handle shipping and other policies, starting with Tuft & Needle.

The Tuft & Needle mattress comes with free shipping and arrives compressed and rolled up in a box. Once the mattress arrives, just flex your biceps, move the box to your room and follow the lead of the loansonline.store team below. The whole unboxing process shouldn’t take longer than 5-10 minutes. However, as with most bed-in-a-box mattresses that arrive compressed, it’s a good idea to let the Tuft & Needle mattress fully inflate for about 24-48 hours before using it.

From there, Tuft & Needle offers you a 100-night risk-free trial period. This is what makes buying a mattress online so great. In basic terms, the company is allowing you to test the bed in the comfort of your own home for more than three months before deciding whether you want to keep it or not. If, in fact, you do decide the Tuft & Needle mattress is not for you, don’t freak out, the return process is very easy.

All you have to do is contact customer support and they’ll take care of everything. First, they’ll schedule a time for the mattress to be picked up from your home at no additional charge. Once that pickup occurs, the company will give you a full refund. Pretty easy, right? In addition, the Tuft & Needle mattress comes with a 10-year warranty.

Linenspa beds also come with free shipping and arrive at your doorstep compressed in a box. However, unlike Tuft & Needle, Linenspa does not offer an extended trial period. Instead, you’ll be stuck with Amazon’s 30-day return policy as your “trial period.” Keep in mind, returns via Amazon can sometimes be a little fickle, so it’s always a good idea to check their return policies before purchasing. Linenspa beds are also backed with a 10-year warranty.
